Transparent colourless cast plexiglass thickness 3 mm
UV resistant.
Cast PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate) is a rigid thermoplastic polymer produced by polymerization between two glass plates. This precision manufacturing process grants it superior mechanical properties and optical clarity compared to extruded PMMA.
Exceptional Optical Purity: Light transmission exceeding 92%, surpassing mineral glass. Total absence of visual distortion, ideal for precision applications.
UV and Weather Stability: Naturally resistant to ultraviolet rays. No yellowing or loss of mechanical properties during outdoor exposure.
Precision Machining: High molecular weight structure allowing for perfect laser cutting (polished glossy edges), clean milling, and easy mechanical polishing.
Chemical Resistance: Better tolerance to chemicals and solvents than polycarbonate, reducing the risk of environmental stress cracking.
Industry and Laboratories: Tank portholes, protective glazing for corrosive environments, medical devices.
Architecture and Retail: High-definition illuminated signs, designer furniture, prestige partitions.
Signage: Precision laser engraving and direct UV printing substrates.
Technical Note: Although more rigid than polycarbonate, cast PMMA is more sensitive to impacts. It requires sharpened metal drill bits with a specific clearance angle to prevent chipping.
Thermal Expansion: The expansion coefficient is approximately 7×10−5 mm/mm/°C (roughly 3.5 mm/m for a ΔT of 50°C). Ensure sufficient rebate depth to avoid bowing of clamped sheets.
