How it works
Calculation rules
- Usable length = bar length − start trim − end-of-bar trim.
- Each piece uses its length plus one saw cut, including the last one in the bar.
- The tool first looks for the smallest number of bars, then gathers the offcut on the last bar so that it stays reusable.
- Straight cuts only, on bars of a single length and one profile per list.
Frequently asked questions
Is the cutting list optimizer free?
Yes, and anyone can calculate without signing up. A free customer account also lets you export the cut list as a PDF, save your lists and order.
What blade width should I enter?
The cutting width of your blade, shown on the blade or its datasheet. Carbide blades for aluminium from 250 to 300 mm are most often 3.2 mm; thin blades about 2.8 mm and 350 mm blades about 3.8 mm.
What are the trims for?
The start trim is the length cut off to square the raw end of the bar. The end trim is the length you cannot use at the end of the bar, for example where the saw vice holds it.
How many pieces can I enter?
Up to 500 pieces per calculation, in one profile. For a frame with several profiles, run one calculation per profile.
Can Systeal cut my pieces?
Yes: from the result, logged-in customers add the pieces cut to length to their cart. Systeal does not cut pieces under 50 mm.
Is the result always the best possible?
The tool searches for up to two seconds. When it proves that no plan needs fewer bars, it shows "Optimal solution".
